Task Force, Commission or Panel

  • In 2001, the South Carolina Colleagues in Caring (SCCIC) Project Coordinating Council, recommended the following to address the current and evolving nursing shortage:
    • Maintaining a permanent state-supported structure for nursing workforce planning and development
    • Developing and implement a statewide plan for recruiting and retaining students in nursing education programs
    • Maximizing enrollments in SC nursing education programs to meet the demand for nurses in the state
    • Developing programs that will facilitate workforce transition and retention.

  • South Carolina’s AHEC offers information about recruitment and retention of health care professional as well as health careers information.

Other

  • The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control is a partner in the HRSA funded Southeast Public Health Training Center at the University of North Carolina to address the training needs of the public health workforce.
